Course Syllabus in General Psychology

SY 2010 - 2011





Course Description:



This is an introductory course to the study of psychology as a science of human behavior. Discussions of the different theories, principles, and concepts aim to give the students basic knowledge of human behavior and focus on the fundamental questions of how and why we think, feel, and behave the way we do, how we get along with one another, and why we become the unique individuals we are.

This course is designed to introduce basic psychological theories and principles to college students, with the expectation that they will be made to recognize the relevance of psychology to their everyday lives. Psychology, as the study of human behavior holds tremendous opportunities for students to learn about social interaction, emotional needs, and environmental influences on behavior.



Course Objectives:



The students are expected to:

1. Understand the Vision, Mission of the University.

2. Identify psychological theories and principles.

3. Give basic knowledge of human behavior on how and why we think, feel and behave the way we do.

4. Recognize the relevance of psychology to their everyday lives.

5. Strengthen social interactions on how we get along with others.

6. Attain certain degree of maturity both psycho-emotional state.

7. Appreciation why we become the unique individuals we are.

8. Understand the environmental influences on behavior.





Course Credit: 3 UNITS

Contact Hours: 3 hours per week

Prerequisite: None

Placement: : Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Respiratory, Medical Technology,

Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Certificate in Respiratory Therapy, and

Associate in Radiology Technology
