Course Syllabus in Logic

SY 2010 - 2011

Course Description:



This course covers with the study of Logic, its history and branches of philosophy, terms, and propositions, arguments, symbolic logic, and informal fallacies designed for one semester based in deductive reasoning and deals with arguments and inferences.

This course is designed as a basic subject under general education. Logic is concerned with the question of adequacy or probative value of different kinds of evidence

Logic is focused on Definition and Importance, Ideas and Terms, Words and Their Definition, Judgment and Propositions, The Categorical and Hypothetical Propositions, and The Square of Opposition, Arguments, Symbolic Logic and Informal fallacies. Logic determines and applies the validity or correctness of our reasoning.



COURSE CREDIT UNIT: 3 units

CONTACT HOURS: 3 hours lecture per week

PREREQUISITE: None

PLACEMENT: First Year Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing, Medical Technology, Radiologic Technology, Associate in Radiologic Technology, & Certificate in Respiratory Therapy



Course Objectives:



The students are expected to:

1. Recognize that Logic can be applied and must be applied to every aspect and every

element of human knowledge and human experience.

2. Think and reason correctly.

3. Illustrate their developed skills of reasoning in accordance with truth in both oral and written.
